Counseling in Tryon, North Carolina

Tryon sits in the Polk County foothills, a few miles from the practice's second location in Columbus. It is a small town a long way from Charlotte, and the options here are genuinely different.

Tryon is a town of not much more than sixteen hundred people in Polk County, in the band of the Blue Ridge foothills known as the Thermal Belt. Columbus, the county seat, is four miles east along Highway 108; Saluda is up the mountain to the north, Mill Spring and the equestrian centre out to the east, and Landrum is six miles south over the South Carolina line.

Rural counties are short of therapists, and Polk is no exception. People here are used to a choice between a long drive to Asheville, Hendersonville or Spartanburg and a waiting list closer to home — which is the reason a part-time practice a few miles away is worth knowing about at all.

The distances that matter are small ones. Tryon to Columbus is a ten-minute drive on a road you would not need directions for, and Saluda, Lynn, Green Creek and Sunny View are all inside half an hour. That is a different kind of decision from the one people make in Charlotte, where the drive is short and the traffic is the problem.

Getting here from Tryon

The nearer of the practice’s two locations is the one in Columbus, about ten minutes away depending on the time of day. Drive times on this page are the ordinary ones anybody living here would give you, not a promise about appointment availability.

What the work itself is

Nothing about the therapy changes with the postcode. The same four pathways are what people from Tryon get in touch about, and they are described properly on their own pages rather than summarised again here.

Getting started

Take the next step

The first step is a conversation. You describe what has brought you here, Laura describes how she works, and between you it becomes clearer whether to carry on.

There is no obligation to book anything afterwards, and it is a reasonable thing to do even if you are not sure you want therapy yet.

Prefer to write rather than call? Use the form, or see the contact page for office details.

Request a consultation

A couple of sentences is plenty. The detail belongs in a session, not a form.

Either an email address or a phone number is enough.

Optional.

How would you prefer Laura replied?

A couple of sentences is plenty. Please do not include medical details, medication or anything highly sensitive — this is an ordinary web form, not a secure clinical record, and there will be somewhere better to go into detail.

What you send here is used to reply to you and for nothing else. See the privacy policy.
