What does an Emotion Code session typically cost?
There is no set price. Discover Healing, the company that certifies practitioners, says they each run their own businesses and set their own prices. Among the practitioners whose published rates we checked in September 2026, a single session cost roughly $60 to $250, and an hour-long session roughly $97 to $250. Prices change, and many practitioners run discounts, so treat these figures as a snapshot rather than a quote.
Session length varies as much as price, from twenty minutes to about ninety, so it is worth comparing cost per minute as well as cost per session. The figures below range from under $2 a minute to nearly $7.
Examples of published prices
These are examples from websites we checked on September 24, 2026. They are listed to show the range, not as recommendations; this site is independent and not affiliated with any of them.
- Discover Healing's staff practitioners: a twenty-minute phone session at a regular price of $137, a Heart-Wall series of three twenty-minute sessions at $411 and a ten-session pack at $1,370, each shown with a sale price at the time of checking.
- An independent practitioner's site: $60 for thirty minutes and $120 for sixty minutes.
- A practitioner in Charlottesville, Virginia: $65 for thirty minutes and $110 for sixty minutes, with discount packages.
- Another independent practitioner: $88 for forty-five minutes by phone, $129 for a session of about an hour to an hour and a half, and three sessions for $249.
- Another: $97 for a sixty-minute phone or remote session, three phone sessions for $260, and Heart-Wall work at a flat $125 however many sessions it takes.
- At the upper end: $250 for a one-hour session, or $705 for three.
What affects the price?
- Session length. Twenty-minute sessions, as Discover Healing's staff offer, cost less per session but can cost more per minute.
- Format. Many practitioners work by phone or by proxy, which can make remote sessions cheaper than in-person ones.
- Certification level. Practitioners also certified in the related Body Code or Belief Code sometimes charge more; that reflects more training in the same method, not a clinical qualification.
- Packages. Buying several sessions at once usually lowers the per-session price, but commits you in advance.
- Location and demand. As with most services, prices differ by area and by how busy a practitioner is.
Does insurance, an HSA or an FSA cover the Emotion Code?
Health insurance generally does not cover the Emotion Code, because it is not clinical treatment. Discover Healing's own disclaimers say the method is not intended to diagnose or treat any medical condition, and that it is not the practice of medicine or psychotherapy. It should never be billed to insurance as psychotherapy.
Health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts reimburse medical expenses as the IRS defines them. IRS Publication 502 describes medical expenses as the costs of diagnosis, treatment, mitigation or prevention of disease, and excludes expenses that are merely beneficial to general health. Since the method's own company disclaims any diagnostic or treatment purpose, do not assume an HSA or FSA will reimburse sessions. If you want to try, check with your plan administrator or a tax professional first.
What to ask about cost before booking
A clear answer to each of these questions is a good sign in any practitioner.
- What is the price per session, and how long is a session, including the first one?
- Is the price different for phone, video, in-person or proxy sessions?
- Do you sell packages, and are unused sessions refundable or subject to an expiry date?
- What is your cancellation and missed-appointment policy?
- Will you ever recommend products, such as magnets, and do you earn money from them?
- Can I pay one session at a time and stop whenever I choose?
Is it worth the money?
Only you can decide, but it helps to decide with the evidence in view. The Emotion Code's mechanism is not established by scientific evidence, and there is no rigorous research showing that sessions produce effects beyond those of expectation and a caring, attentive practitioner; our page on whether the Emotion Code works explains the research. Some people value sessions as a calming or reflective ritual and are comfortable paying for that. Others would rather spend the same money elsewhere.
Two practical suggestions. First, set a budget and a number of sessions before you start, and review honestly when you reach it; our page on how many sessions people have has more on this. Second, if money is tight and you are struggling with your mood, anxiety or relationships, put it toward evidence-based care first. Community mental health services and sliding-scale therapy exist, and in a crisis call 911, or call or text 988 at no cost.
What does Laura charge?
Laura Bass is a certified Emotion Code practitioner and a psychotherapist who keeps the two as separate pathways, with separate arrangements. Her Emotion Code fee, session length and any packages are not listed on this page; please ask Laura. Common questions
Why do Emotion Code prices vary so much?
Because there is no regulator or standard fee. Certified practitioners run independent businesses and set their own prices and session lengths, which range from twenty minutes to about ninety. Some offer short, inexpensive sessions by phone; others offer long sessions at a premium. Compare what you get for the price, including length, format and cancellation terms, not only the headline figure.
Is a Heart-Wall session priced differently?
Often, yes. In the method's terms, clearing a Heart-Wall takes several sessions, and Discover Healing says two to four is typical, so practitioners frequently sell it as a package. Among the rates we checked, Heart-Wall packages ranged from a flat $125 to $411 at Discover Healing's regular staff price. The Heart-Wall itself is not established by scientific evidence.
Are Emotion Code sessions refundable?
That depends entirely on the practitioner. Some state that sessions are nonrefundable; Discover Healing's staff sessions are paid at booking, expire after one year, and missed appointments are forfeited. Before paying, ask about refunds for unused sessions, expiry dates and the cancellation policy, and prefer paying per session until you know whether the practice suits you.
Is it tax deductible?
Probably not as a medical expense, since IRS Publication 502 covers costs of diagnosing, treating, mitigating or preventing disease, and the Emotion Code's own company says it is not intended for those purposes. Tax situations differ, so if this matters to you, ask a tax professional rather than relying on a practitioner's advice or on this page.
